101 20-Minute Dishes for Picnics

From the source of 101 20-Minute Appetizers and 101 10-Minute Meals (from which I have used a number of recipes), comes 101 20-Minute Picnic Dishes. Of the dishes he lists (and many of them are quite tasty sounding), I definitely think this one may enter the repertoire:
8 COLD PEANUT NOODLES Cook Chinese egg noodles or regular spaghetti. Drain and rinse. Toss with sesame oil, peanut butter (or tahini), sugar, soy sauce, ginger, vinegar, black pepper (lots) and chili oil (optional). Pack shredded seeded cucumber, cooked shrimp and chopped scallions separately.

Dagwood Sandwich

For real! The sandwich made famous over the years in the Blondie comic strip will now be a reality, with a chain of restaurants named after the hapless sandwich maker. I'll definitely try one if one of Dagwood's Sandwich Shoppes moves to Atlanta.

I wonder how they'll stack the sandwich a foot high like Mr. Bumstead always managed to do. And I hope that my father gets a chance sometime to have one.

Woodshedding Watershed

At long last, a long weekend. A graduation was celebrated. Stress was survived. And drinks were had. Immediately following the ceremony, we retired to Watershed restaurant in Decatur and enjoyed a fine meal. I for one didn't know that pimento cheese could be so good.

One quibble, while their bloody mary's seemed to fit the bill for those vodka drinkers among us, the mint julep decidedly did not. A mint julep is not a bourbon on the rocks with a sprig of mint people! Didn't anyone involved with this restaurant grow up in the South?

In case anyone involved with Watershed finds his or her way to this place, here is a recipe for a proper mint julep, and another, and another [Ed Note: We get the point]. Please note the presence of shaved ice and a frosted glass in all these.

Please stop the bait and switch.
